Air China provides flexible cancellation and refund options, ensuring convenience
for its passengers. Below are the key points of their policy:
Cancellation Policy
If Air China Cancels or Changes Your Flight (Involuntary Changes)
• You are entitled to a full refund with no fees.
• You may also choose free rebooking to another Air China flight.
• Applies when the airline cancels, delays heavily, changes schedule
significantly, or causes a missed connection.
If You Cancel Your Ticket (Voluntary Cancellation)
Refundability depends on your fare type.
Refundable Fares
Full or partial refund allowed. A refund fee may apply depending on route and
ticket rules.
Non-Refundable / Discounted Fares
Base fare is usually non-refundable. You may only receive a refund of unused
taxes and airport charges. Some promotional tickets have no refund at all.
2-Hour Grace Period (Common Rule)
Many Air China tickets allow a full refund within 2 hours of purchase, if the
flight has not departed and certain conditions are met. Does not apply to
special fares such as group bookings, award tickets, or standby fares.
Partially Used Tickets
If one segment has been flown, only the unused portion can be refunded. Refund
is calculated after deducting the value of the flown portion and any applicable
fees.
No-Show Policy
If you miss your flight without cancelling in advance (“no-show”):
• Refunds may be severely limited or not allowed at all.
• Some fares forfeit the entire ticket.
How to Request a Refund
Refund must be requested through the same channel where the ticket was
purchased:
• Air China website/app or call center (for direct bookings)
• Travel agent / OTA if booked through an agency
• Refund processing time varies depending on payment method and ticket type.
