Cancellation and Refund Policy

Air India provides flexible cancellation and refund options, ensuring convenience for its passengers. Below are the key points of their policy:

Cancellation Policy

24-Hour Cancellation Rule

If cancelled within 24 hours of booking, and the flight is at least 7 days away, a full refund is provided with no cancellation fee.

Applies to both domestic and international tickets booked directly with Air India.

Non-Refundable Tickets

If canceled beyond the 24-hour window, the ticket's value is refunded as a credit certificate for future travel, minus any applicable cancellation fees.

Saver fares are not eligible for changes or refunds after the 24-hour booking window.

Refundable Tickets

Refundable tickets can be canceled at any time before departure for a full refund to the original payment method.

How to Cancel and Request a Refund

Cancellations can be made through the Manage Booking section on Air India’s website or mobile app.

Tickets purchased through travel agents or online platforms must be cancelled through the same agent.

Refunds are returned to the original form of payment. If that account is no longer active, passengers may provide new bank details through an Air India office.

Refund amount depends on:

• Fare type (Basic, Value, Classic, Flex, Business, First)

• Route (domestic or international)

• Time remaining before departure

• Cheaper fares generally have higher cancellation fees.

• Flex-type fares allow lower penalties or more flexible changes.

Flight Changes (Rescheduling)

• Changes are allowed on most tickets, but change fees vary by the fare type and route.

• Fare differences may apply if the new flight is more expensive.

• Some flexible fares allow free changes if done well in advance.

Baggage Fees

If the flight is canceled by the airline:

The airlines will refund prepaid baggage fees automatically or allow you to use the credit on your rebooked flight. You can usually request a full refund through the airline’s website or customer service.

If you cancel the flight yourself:

Prepaid baggage fees are often non-refundable, unless you booked a refundable fare or the airline’s policy explicitly allows it.
