American Airlines Baggage Allowance

Passengers traveling with American Airlines are welcome to bring the following:

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

Each passenger traveling on American Airlines is allowed to bring one carry-on bag and one personal item onboard free of charge.

The carry-on bag must not exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm (22in x 14in x 9in), including handles and wheels, and must fit in the overhead compartment.

The personal item, such as a handbag, laptop bag, or small backpack, must fit under the seat in front of you. Passengers traveling with infants may also bring one diaper bag in addition to their standard allowance.

Checked Baggage Allowance

The checked baggage allowance varies depending on your route, cabin class, and AAdvantage status:

• Main Cabin / Premium Economy: 1 or 2 bags up to 23 kg (50 lbs) each.

• Business and First Class: Up to 2 bags (domestic) or 3 bags (international), each up to 32 kg (70 lbs).

• Baggage dimensions must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches) in total (length + width + height).

Extra Baggage

If your baggage exceeds the allowed weight or number of pieces, additional charges apply based on your destination and ticket type. Overweight or oversized bags may be subject to higher fees.
