Passengers traveling with Qantas are welcome to bring the following:

Carry-on Baggage

On international flights, economy passengers are allowed one standard carry-on case up to 7 kg.

On domestic flights, different rules apply depending on the fare: some passengers may bring two pieces totalling up to 14 kg.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Qantas uses both weight- and piece-based checked baggage allowances, depending on the route:

Domestic (within Australia):

• Economy: 1 piece, up to 23 kg.

• Business: 2 pieces, each up to 32 kg.

International (excluding North & South America):

• Economy: up to 30 kg (weight-based system) for non-frequent flyers.

• Premium Economy: up to 40 kg in total for some fare types.

• Business: up to 40 kg for some routes.

• First Class: very generous — up to 50 kg on many routes.

International (to/from North & South America):

In many cases, Qantas applies a piece concept — for example, 1 piece up to 32 kg in economy for some fare types.

Business and First class can have more pieces (with each piece up to 32 kg).

Important Notes

Max weight per piece: No single checked bag can exceed 32 kg (70 lb).

Size limit: Checked baggage must not exceed total linear dimensions of 158 cm for many international flights.

Infants: For international flights (non-Americas), an infant (under 2) gets a 10 kg checked baggage allowance.

Frequent Flyer / Qantas Club: Members may have higher baggage allowances (in weight) on international journeys.
