South African Airways Baggage Allowance

Passengers travelling with South African Airways from Kansai International Airport (KIX) are permitted to carry the following:

Each passenger departing from Kansai International Airport may bring one cabin bag in Economy Class with a maximum weight of 8 kg (17 lbs). The bag must not exceed 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm and should be placed in the overhead compartment.

Passengers in Business Class are generally allowed two cabin bags within the same size restrictions.

In addition, one personal item such as a handbag, laptop bag, or small backpack is permitted and must fit under the seat in front.

All cabin baggage must pass security screening procedures at Kansai International Airport. Items exceeding the permitted size or weight must be checked in and may incur additional charges.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Checked baggage allowance for South African Airways flights departing from Kansai International Airport follows the piece concept:

• Economy Class: 2 pieces, each up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

• Business Class: 2 pieces, each up to 32 kg (70 lbs)

Each checked bag must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches) in total linear dimensions.

The maximum allowable weight per individual bag is 32 kg. Any item exceeding this must be repacked prior to acceptance.

Passengers should confirm baggage entitlement stated on their ticket before arriving at Kansai International Airport. Additional fees apply for excess baggage.

Extra Baggage

Passengers may purchase additional baggage allowance in advance through South African Airways’ website or customer service channels, often at reduced rates compared to airport pricing.

Excess baggage fees are charged when limits for weight, size, or number of pieces are exceeded, and vary depending on the route.
