Passengers traveling with Turkish Airlines are welcome to bring the following:

Carry-on Baggage

• Economy Class: 1 piece, max 8 kg, size limit ~23 × 40 × 55 cm

• Business Class: 2 pieces, each up to 8 kg (total up to 16 kg); plus 1 personal item (max 4 kg, ~40 × 30 × 15 cm)

• Infants: Allowed 1 piece of cabin baggage up to 8 kg

Checked Baggage Allowance

Turkish Airlines uses two different systems depending on the route — a weight-based system and a piece-based system.

On routes using the weight concept (e.g., many routes in Europe, Asia):

• Economy: around 20 - 30 kg depending on fare type

• Business: up to 40 kg

On routes using the piece concept (common on flights to/from the Americas):

• Economy: typically 1 - 2 pieces, each up to 23 kg

• Business: 2 pieces, each up to 32 kg

• Maximum weight per single bag: No single checked bag can be heavier than 32 kg. If a bag is over 32 kg, it must be split into multiple bags.

For infants, checked baggage allowance varies: for some fares, infants may have a 23 kg checked bag; in other cases, they may have a 10 kg allowance, depending on whether the route uses weight or piece concept.

Extra Baggage

Extra baggage (over free allowance) can be purchased - fees depend on route, concept (weight/piece), and how much extra is needed.

If a checked bag is overweight but under 32 kg, there may be a fixed excess-piece fee on piece-system routes.

Bags over 32 kg are not accepted as a single piece - they must be split and rechecked.
