If you've lost an item during your United Airlines flight or at the airport, United Airlines is here to help. The Lost and Found service ensures you can easily report and recover your lost belongings.

Follow these steps to report and recover your lost items.
Delayed Baggage
If your baggage is delayed, here's what you should do:
Report the Delay: Use the United Airlines app or website, call the Baggage Recovery Center at 1-800-335-2247 (International: 1-281-821-3526), or text "BAGS" to 32050.
Receive a File Reference Number: You will receive a file reference number after reporting the delay. Keep this number for future reference.
Track Your Baggage: Use the file reference number to track your bag's status online or through the United app.
Request Reimbursement (if eligible): Report the delay within the specified timeframe (24 hours for domestic U.S. travel, 21 days for international travel or travel to/from the U.S.), keep receipts for any essential items purchased while your bag was delayed, and submit a claim online or through a United Airlines office, providing necessary documentation.
*In certain cases of significant delays, United Airlines may automatically refund bag fees.
Lost Baggage
If your baggage is lost, follow these steps:
Report the Lost Item: Use the United Airlines website or app, call the Baggage Recovery Center at 1-800-335-2247 (International: 1-281-821-3526) or text "BAGS" to 32050.
Receive a File Reference Number: You will receive a file reference number after reporting the lost bag. Keep this number for future reference.
File a Lost Baggage Claim: Submit your claim within 45 days for domestic U.S. travel, 21 days for international travel or travel to/from the U.S., include a detailed list of missing items, receipts, and a photo ID.
Reimbursement and Tracking: You may be eligible for reimbursement for essential items purchased while your bag was missing. Use your file reference number to track your bag's status online.
Missing Item
If items are missing from your baggage, follow these steps:
Report the Missing Item: Use the United Airlines website or app, call the Baggage Recovery Center at 1-800-335-2247 (International: 1-281-821-3526), text "BAGS" to 32050 or visit the Baggage Service Office at the airport.
Receive a File Reference Number: You will receive a file reference number after reporting the lost bag. Keep this number for future reference.
File a Claim (if applicable): For items missing during security screening, file a written claim with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). You can also call the TSA Contact Center at 1-866-289-9673. For items missing on the flight, File a claim with United Airlines within the specified timeframe (24 hours for domestic U.S. travel, 21 days for international travel or travel to/from the U.S.).
Damaged Baggage
If your baggage is damaged, you may be eligible for a replacement bag at the airport. Follow these steps:
Report the Damaged Bag: Use the United Airlines website or app, call the Baggage Recovery Center at 1-800-335-2247 (International: 1-281-821-3526), text "BAGS" to 32050 or visit the Baggage Service Office after arriving.
Receive a File Reference Number: You will receive a file reference number after reporting the lost bag. Keep this number for future reference.
File Reimbursement Claim (if needed): For Standard Checked Bags, if unreplaced and needing repair/reimbursement, submit a claim at rynnsluggage.com within 45 days (domestic U.S. travel) or 21 days (international travel or travel to/from the U.S.) of arrival. For Specialty Items, use the damaged bag claim form for reimbursement within the same timeframes.
