Passengers travelling on Virgin Australia itineraries from Kansai International Airport (KIX) must follow baggage rules based on the operating carrier. For Virgin Australia-operated sectors and aligned policies, the following applies:

Carry-on Baggage

For travel from 2 February 2026, Economy Class passengers are permitted one cabin bag with a maximum weight of 8 kg, plus one personal item such as a laptop bag or handbag that must fit under the seat.

Business Class and eligible premium passengers may carry two cabin bags with a combined weight of up to 14 kg, with no single item exceeding 8 kg, in addition to one personal item.

Cabin baggage must comply with standard size limits of approximately 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm and must pass security screening at Kansai International Airport.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Checked baggage entitlements vary depending on fare type:

• Lite fares: no checked baggage included
• Choice, Flex, and Economy Reward fares: 1 piece up to 23 kg
• Business Class: 2 pieces, each up to 32 kg

Additional allowances may apply for frequent flyer status holders under the Velocity program.

Each checked bag must remain within airline size and weight limits, with a maximum individual weight of 32 kg.

Extra Baggage

Passengers may purchase additional baggage through the Manage Booking function, contact centers, or at the airport. Prepaid baggage options are priced lower than airport rates.

Fees apply when exceeding permitted limits in weight, size, or quantity. Oversized or special items such as sports equipment are accepted subject to handling requirements and applicable charges.
