Dotonbori, located at the southern end of Shinsaibashi, is one of the bustling commercial districts in Osaka and a landmark food base, including ramen, takoyaki, teppanyaki, kebabs, rotary sushi, fugu dishes and various desserts.

The huge billboards on both sides of the Dotonbori River Canal are also a major attraction here, including the Glico humanoid signboard and Kanidoraku’s big crab signboard. When the neon lights are flashing at night, it becomes more lively. You can also take a sightseeing boat to see the night view on both sides of the strait.

The restaurant is recommended as the birthplace of Osaka’s “eating and lying” food culture. Dotonbori will be your first choice for food. After shopping in Shinsaibashi, it’s great to come here to treat your stomach.

You will notice that many shop signs are three-dimensional. In addition to the well-known "big crab", there are also green dragons, giant hands holding tuna sushi, and oversized dumplings. They are very vivid, and they just look so good. People are salivating. There are also many inconspicuous shops where you can enjoy satisfying delicious food. Kanidoraku (かに道楽) has branches in Tokyo, Kyoto and other places, and even Dotonbori has three stores, but the one with the big sign is the main brunch.

Dinner here is more expensive, about 6000-8000 yen per person, while lunch package is more cost-effective and about 3000-4000 yen per person. You can eat crabs of different methods in a set meal, such as raw crab meat, boiled crab meat, crab meat baked rice, sizzling crab and so on. In addition, the grilled crab legs sold in front of the store are also very delicious. The Golden Dragon Ramen (金龙ラーメン), which is always lined up at the door, is also recommended. 5It is cheap and delicious, with an average consumption of less than 1,000 yen. There are also teppanyaki originator Botenjiu (ぼてぢゅう), famous takoyaki restaurant KonamonMuseum (コナモンミュージアム), and the superb dumpling shop Osaka Kingsho, which is dazzling.

In addition to satisfying the taste buds, leisure and sightseeing can also visit Hozenji Yokocho, feel the unique street view of the Edo era, and the immovable King Bodhisattva; or visit the nearby artful Ukiyo-e Museum; on the north bank of the canal. There is also an eye-catching oval-shaped God of Fortuna Ferris wheel, which is an accessory facility of the Don Quixote (ドン・キホーテ) department store. If you are interested, you can ride it once for 600 yen.

It is also a good choice to take a water sightseeing boat to see the scenery on both sides of the Dotonbori River. The boarding point is under the Taizaemon Bridge, right next to the God of Wealth Ferris wheel. The fare is 700 yen. If you buy the Osaka Amazing Pass, you can take the bus free of charge. Operating hours are 13:00-21:00 on weekdays, 11:00-21:00 on weekends, holidays and busy periods, every half an hour, and the voyage is 20 minutes. Although the explanation is in Japanese, the energetic tour guide will make you fully feel the cheerfulness and enthusiasm of Kansai people.
