Cancellation Policy

Tickets can generally be cancelled, but when you get a refund depends on your fare type.

Refundable fares: You can cancel before the flight and receive a full refund, minus any cancellation fees that apply to the fare.

Non-refundable (discount) fares: Refunds are limited; you may only get back airport taxes or certain fees, or receive a travel credit instead.

Day-of-departure cancellation: Depending on ticket rules, cancellation fees may be higher, or the fare may become non-refundable.

No-show: If you fail to show up for your flight without canceling, you typically forfeit the ticket value; only taxes or a small portion may be refundable, depending on the fare conditions.

Refund Policy

Refunds are processed through the original payment method (credit card, bank transfer, etc.).

After cancellation, it can take several weeks for the refund to appear, depending on the payment method.

If JAL cancels your flight or makes a schedule change you don’t accept, you are entitled to a full refund, including fare and taxes.

For partially used tickets (if only some segments were flown), the unused portion may be refunded, again depending on the fare type.

Refunds of ancillary or optional services (such as extra baggage or seat selection) are also possible if they were paid but not used, subject to JAL’s terms.

Baggage Fees

If the flight is canceled by the airline:

The airlines will refund prepaid baggage fees automatically or allow you to use the credit on your rebooked flight. You can usually request a full refund through the airline’s website or customer service.

If you cancel the flight yourself:

Prepaid baggage fees are often non-refundable, unless you booked a refundable fare or the airline’s policy explicitly allows it.
